Lafrowda and The Ash Tree Actors have got together this year to create a comedy for St Just, it’s no joke. The Blacksmith’s Tale is a bawdy and hilarious story of Molly, a St Just girl of the 1800’s and her various dalliances. There’ll be brawny blacksmiths, sneaky solicitors, wise women and lascivious landowners….
so what’s new?
Actors and performers from St Just will be presenting trailer sketches at events in festival fortnight, and the first night play premieres at The Star in St Just as Lafrowda Comedy night on 16th July. All things being equal, no legs broken or stages frightened, they will be taking our own St Just play on tour to the pubs and open air venues of West Penwith. The Blacksmith’s Tale text will be available in the library or online on lafrowda-festival.co.uk for anyone to adapt, bowldlerise, interpret or mangle from Lafrowda onwards.
Lafrowda’s commission of The Blacksmith’s Tale : St Just Play is supported by Arts Council England and The Star Inn, St Just. Thank you to the acting and supporting talent of St Just for their hard work and good humour.
